John M. Spencer Esquire is a graduate of the University of North Carolina- Charlotte with a B.A. in History. Mr. Spencer graduated Cum Laude and as a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society.

Mr. Spencer was awarded the degree of Juris Doctor from the University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill. While pursuing this degree Mr. Spencer was a member of the Trial Law Academy and Criminal Defense Clinic. He also served as the treasurer of the Domestic Violence Advocacy Program.

Prior to founding Spencer & Seguin, PLC, Mr. Spencer served in the United Stated Air Force as a canine handler/ Security Policeman from 1988 – 1991. Upon completion of his military service Mr. Spencer returned to New York where he served as a police officer from 1992 – 1997.

After receiving his law degree, Mr. Spencer worked for the law firm of Steptoe & Johnson, LLP, in Washington D.C. He left that position to focus on trial work at the Office of the Public Defender in Fredericksburg, VA. Mr. Spencer is a member of the Virginia State Bar and concentrates his practice in mainly criminal matters ranging from traffic infractions to 1str degree murder. 

 


Scott C. Seguin holds a degree from the University of Illinois B.A. (History, 1999) where he graduated on the Dean’s List and a member of the Golden Key Honor Society.  Mr. Seguin graduated from Wake Forest University School of Law (J.D. 2003), where he received several honors for his trial advocacy skills.   

Mr. Seguin has been practicing in the Northern Virginia area since 2003, where he specializes in both criminal law and immigration matters.  He is admitted to practice in all Virginia and United States Federal Courts.   Mr. Seguin has also argued cases in front of the Virginia Court of Appeals.

Prior to founding Spencer & Seguin, PLC, Mr. Seguin worked for both the Alexandria and Fredericksburg Public Defender’s Offices.  His practice areas include visas, work permits, as well as traffic violations, driving while intoxicated, drug crimes, and juvenile criminal matters.

Mr. Seguin was selected as a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA), as well is a member of the Criminal Law Section of the Virginia State Bar Association. He is also a member of the Public Interest Law committee for the Fairfax County Bar Association.
